  • Overview

    Using discretion and independent judgment the COTA delivers care to age-appropriate services for adult geriatric patients, including the following: cognition, functional mobility, self-care, motor control. and musculoskeletal disorders as a result of acquired or developmental disabilities. These services are provided under the supervision of an OT as required by regulatory agencies. Adhers to the department and hospital policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    Formal Education: Associate Degree or certification equivalent
    License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement: Yes
    Education Requirements
    • Graduate, with a minimum of an Associate's Degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant and successful completion of the National Registry exam.
    • Recent graduates who have applied for the registration exam may be considered for provisional appointment.
    License Requirements
    • CPR Certification.
    • Current license in Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in state of employment.
    License Desired
    • Membership or certification in national association, as applicable.
